Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passes away at 92

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today at the age of 92. She was admitted to a city hospital in early January this year, after she tested positive for Covid-19.

Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at the hospital where she was admitted to the ICU for over three weeks. The veteran singer also battled pneumonia along with the deadly virus.

After showing signs of improvement recently, her health condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, she passed away today, leaving the entire nation in a state of grief.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reached Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted for the past 29.

Talking to reporters, Asha Bhosle had said everyone is “praying for Lata Didi” and her condition was “stable.”

Lata Mangeshkar, who was popularly known as the “nightingale of India”, was a recipient of the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna. In her glorious career of over six decades, Lata Mangeshkar bagged several awards including three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards and Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
