Lisa Loring, who portrayed Wednesday Addams in the 1960s sitcom The Addams Family, has died. The actress was 64 years old. Loring's close friend Laure Jacobson announced the tragic news of her death on Facebook on January 28. Lisa was taken off life support after suffering a "massive stroke," according to Laure. Loring's death was later confirmed by her daughter Vanessa Foumberg, who told Variety that her mother died "peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands."
As reported by Deadline, Jacobson said on Facebook, "It is with great regret that I report the loss of our friend, Lisa Loring. She had a big stroke four days ago as a result of smoking and high blood pressure. She was on life support for three days. Her family took the tough decision to remove it yesterday, and she died last night."
Laure's tweet added, "She is entrenched in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams, Lisa's influence in the world of entertainment is enormous. She is beautiful, sweet, and a wonderful mother. And her legacy for her family and friends — a wealth of humor, affection, and love — will live on in our minds for a long time. Lisa, rest in peace. Damn, chick... You were great fun."
Lisa Loring played Wednesday Addams in The New Yorker's first live-action version of Charles Addams drawings. From 1964 to 1966, the show aired 64 episodes. Loring's performance as Wednesday was recently resurrected following Jenna Ortega's interpretation of the legendary character in the Netflix series Wednesday.
