Prasanth Varma has revealed the first look of Akshaye Khanna in Mahakali, and it has left fans shocked. The actor looks almost unrecognisable in his new avatar.
The poster shows Akshaye with long grey hair, a thick beard and a sharp silver stare. His heavy robe and strong presence give him a mystical and powerful vibe.

The look quickly reminded many of Amitabh Bachchan in Kalki 2898 AD. Some fans joked that it felt like a “downloaded version” of Amitabh. Others even wondered if the poster was made with AI.
Sharing the poster, director Prasanth Varma wrote, “In the shadows of gods,
rose the brightest flame of rebellion. Presenting The Enigmatic #AkshayeKhanna as the eternal ‘Asuraguru SHUKRACHARYA’ from #Mahakali.”
Akshaye Khanna’s Role In Mahakali
Reports of Akshaye joining the film had already been making rounds. Sources confirmed his role will bring intrigue and depth to the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). His character is expected to appear across multiple films.
Mahakali is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and conceptualised by Prasanth Varma. It is still in pre-production, with the team working on casting and story details. The film will be the first female-led superhero project in the PVCU.
The Growing PVCU Universe
The PVCU started with HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja, which became a huge success. Its sequel Jai Hanuman, led by Rishab Shetty, is already on the way. Mahakali will be the third big entry in the series, followed by other titles like Adhira.
Prasanth has often said that Mahakali is meant to break beauty standards. For him, the idea was never about just casting a big star, but about creating something bold and different.
