Telugu film star Mahesh Babu’s elder brother, actor-turned-producer Ramesh Babu, died on Saturday at the age of 56 after a prolonged illness. He was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The statement issued by the family read, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu garu. He will continue to live in our hearts forever.” The family also advised fans and followers to not gather for the funeral and last rites, given the Covid-19 protocols in place. “In light of the current circumstances, we request all our well-wishers to adhere to the Covid-19 norms and avoid gathering at the cremation venue,” the statement further stated.
The news comes just two days after Mahesh Babu revealed he has tested positive for Covid-19. i “To all my fans and well-wishers, Despite taking all the necessary precautions, I’ve tested positive for COVID-l9 with mild symptoms. I’ve isolated myself at home and have been following medical guidance.” The 46-year-old star added, “Request all those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested. I urge everyone who’s not taken their vaccination to do so immediately, as it reduces the risk of severe symptoms and hospitalization. Please follow the COVID norms and stay safe. Can’t wait to be back. Love.”
