Mammootty cracks body shaming joke at Jude Anthany, apologises when netizens admonish him

Mammootty: Malayalam superstar Mammootty has apologised for a 'body shaming' remark that he passed at director Jude Anthany. He took to Facebook to seek forgiveness when fans pointed out that what he did was wrong.

Mammootty was attending the teaser launch of Tovino Thomas's 2018 recently. He made a 'body shaming' joke at director Jude Anthany Joseph. He said, "Even though he has fewer hairs on his head, he is still intelligent." Netizens did not take kindly to his joke and pointed out to him that it was wrong to joke about Jude's bald head. Mammootty realised his mistake and took to Facebook to apologise for his remarks.

‘Sorry, it won’t happen again’

The actor realised his mistake and took to social media to apologise. His tweet in Malayalam is loosely translated as saying, "Dear all, I am sorry that some of you were offended by the enthusiastic words used by me to praise director Jude Antony at the trailer launch event of the '2018' movie that happened yesterday. Further care will be taken not to repeat such practices. Thanks for all the reminders."

However, Jude Anthany Joseph took the sportingly and defended Mammootty. He requested the netizens not to take Mammootty's comments in a wrong way. He further stated that the comment did not bother him and added that Mammootty said it only to appreciate his talent.

Film on 2018 floods

Written and directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, 2018 is a heart-wrenching tale about the 2018 floods. Recently, the teaser of the film was unveiled and attracted a lot of attention. The film also features Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban and Aparna Balamurali. 2018 is produced by Venu Kunnappilly, C K Padmakumar, and Anto Joseph under the banner of Kavya Film Company in association with P K Prime Production Producers.

Mammootty was last seen in Rorschach, which did fairly well at the box office. The film is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
