Margot Robbie reveals she hyped Barbie as a Million-Dollar Blockbuster: 'Maybe I was overselling'

Margot Robbie starrer Barbie is released in the theatres and the movie has become immensely popular among fans even before its release. Everyone is waiting to see Margot Robbie as Barbie. The movie is making headlines for the star-studded cast and fairy-tale story and now, the lead lady Margot Robbie, who is also a producer, talked about her pitch to the producers about the film. She is gearing up for her film and the promotions are in full swing. During an interview, Margot Robbie confessed that she hyped her film Million Dollar Project among the producers.

The actress hyped Barbie as Million Dollar

During her interview with Collider, Margot talked about Greta Grewig, “I believe my presentation in the green-light meeting was that studios thrive when they are bold enough to marry a huge idea with a great director.”

She continued, “And then I presented a series of examples, such as 'dinosaurs and [Steven] Spielberg,' that and that, that and that — pretty much-listing anything that's been amazing and earned a lot of money for the studios throughout the years. 'And now you've got Barbie and Greta Gerwig,' I said. And I believe I promised them it would make a billion dollars, which maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, okay?!”

Margot Robbie talked about her casting in the lead role

She said, “I didn't want whoever our director would be - Greta was the top choice, but if she said no, I didn't want our director to feel obligated to cast me.”

The actress further added, “So I was just extremely straightforward about how I wouldn't be insulted in the least. We could approach anyone. I support any tale you want to tell and whoever you want to be. I have skin in the game as a producer; I don't have skin in the game as an actor, so make your own decision.' 'Shut up, I want to write this for you.' 'You might feel forced to say that, but...' I said, and we danced that dance for a while. And so I just accepted that she did want me to play the part, and she wrote it.”
