Naatu Naatu singers: SS Rajamouli’s RRR shattered several box office records and created a name for itself in the history of cinema. The biggest feather in the cap came when its song Naatu Naatu won the Golden Globes and earned a nomination at the Oscars 2023.
The song composed by MM Keeravaani, and featuring , starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, is sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The lyrics were written by Chandrabose. The Naatu Naatu song will be performed live at the Oscars 2023 on March 12.
So who are Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, who sang the viral song? As the duo is busy rehearsing for the grand ceremony, we bring to you their short profiles.
RAHUL SIPLIGUNJ
A playback singer, songwriter, actor and independent musician., Rahul rose to fame with his independent songs on his YouTube channel. So far, he has recorded songs in over 50 Telugu films. He is popular for numbers that highlight the pride of the Telugu language.
Rahul recorded his debut song, College Bulloda, in Josh. He was 20-years-old when he made his debut in Tollywood. Some of his popular songs before Naatu Naatu were Vaastu Bagunde from Dammu, You are my Darlingo from Jakkanna, O Alekhya O Alekhya from Doosukeltha, Ranga Ranga Rangasthalana from Ragasthalam and Bonalu from iSmart Shankar, to name a few.
Rahul Sipligunj was the winner of Bigg Boss 3 Telugu and also appeared as a guest in many Telugu music reality shows.
Rahul also played cameo roles in Ram Chakkani Seetha, Pressure Cooker and Ranga Marthanda. His moment of glory came when in 2021 when Naatu Naatu was released. He has also sung songs in Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Kanmani Rambo Khatija and F3.
KAALA BHAIRAVA
Son of composer MM Keeravaani, Kamala Bhairava’s brother Sri Simha is an actor in the Telugu film industry. SS Rajamouli and Kalyan Koduri are his uncles. Kaala Bhairava is a singer and music director. His first song in Telugu was under his father Keeravaani’s composition. He sang Gjijigadu from Rajanna in 2011.
Some of his popular songs include Dandalayya from Baahubali 2, Tholi Prema from Tholi Prema, Peniviti from Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, Spirit of Jersey from Jersey and Yetu Pone from Dear Comrade, among many other songs.
Apart from Naatu Naatu in RRR, he also sang the haunting Komuram Bheemudo song from the film. He has composed music for Mathu Vadalara, Colour Photo, Aakashavaani, Karthikeya 2, Gurthunda Seethakalam and Mukhachitram.
The Academy announced on February 28 that Rahul and Kaala will perform Naatu Naatu live at the award ceremony on March 12.
