Miss India 2015 finalist Diksha Singh loses UP Panchayat polls

Miss India 2015 runner-up, Diksha Singh, has lost the Panchayat election from Baskha in Jaunpur district. She had contested for Zila Panchayat member this time after the seat was reserved for a female candidate. The young diva, having established her career in fashion, was looking for a fresh start and had her credibility at stake.

She faced defeat to BJP backed candidate Nagina Singh with a margin of about 5,000 votes. With 2,000 votes, Diksha Singh ranked 5th in the panchayat election polls.

Singh, who had come to her native place Jaunpur from Mumbai, made the lack of basic facilities in Jaunpur as the main focus of her election campaign. She also focused on improving women’s situation in the rural interiors.

Diksha who is a resident of Chittori village in the Baksha area of Jaunpur district had gone to Mumbai with her father after completing her primary study in the village.

In Mumbai, she started participating in pageants and clinched the runner-up title at Femina Miss India 2015. She has also appeared in some of the commercials for some famous brands and has also tried her hands on acting.
