Miss World 2023: India is set to host the 71st Miss World pageant after a gap of 27 years. The announcement came as a surprise, as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was initially confirmed as this year's venue. The exact date of the event is yet to be announced, but it is expected to take place in November or December this year.

71st Miss World Pageant 

Julia Morley, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization, expressed her delight in announcing India as the new host. She mentioned her affection for India since her first visit over 30 years ago and the organization's eagerness to share India's unique culture, attractions, and locations with the world.

Contestants from more than 130 countries will gather in India to showcase their talents, intelligence, and compassion. The pageant will feature a series of competitions, including talent showcases, sports challenges, and charitable initiatives. The participants will undergo several rounds over the course of one month before the grand finale.

Jamil Saidi, Chairman of PME, stated that India is the most deserving country to host the Miss World Festival, enabling representatives from 140 countries to experience the beauty of Incredible India. The current Miss World, Karolina Bielawska, also expressed her excitement about India hosting the event and invited everyone to join in celebrating the power of women to make a difference.

The decision to host the Miss World 2023 pageant in India came after the previous announcement of the UAE as the host country. Julia Morley had mentioned in February that further details would follow. This change of venue marks India's return as the host after nearly three decades, with the last pageant held in the country in 1996.

Miss World winners from India 

India has a notable history in the Miss World competition, with several winners from the country. Reita Faria became the first-ever Miss World from India in 1966. Other Indian winners include Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and Manushi Chillar (2017). Miss India World 2022, Sini Shetty, will be representing India in the upcoming Miss World 2023 contest.
