The official trailer for Kabir Khan’s sports drama 83, starring Ranveer Singh as former cricketer Kapil Dev, is finally out. The film depicts how the Indian cricket team, ‘a team that no one believed in’, went from being the underdogs to winning their first-ever World Cup in 1983 by beating the reigning champions, West Indies.

Besides Ranveer Singh, 83 also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree and Pankaj Tripathi and Deepika Padukone among others.
The film was originally scheduled to release in 2020 but was postponed due to Covid-19.
Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films present 83, a Kabir Khan Films Production. A Reliance Entertainment and PVR Pictures release. The film will have its world premiere on 15 December at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival. 83 will be released in theatres on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Also in 3D.
Kamal Haasan’s Raajkamal Films International and Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Annapurna Studios join hands with Reliance Entertainment to present the Tamil and Telugu versions respectively of the film. Prithviraj’s production and Kichcha Sudeepa’s Shalini Arts are set to present the film in Malayalam and Kannada versions.
The film is jointly produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Phantom Films, Reliance Entertainment.
