New on Netflix: Enola Holmes 2 Coming This Year

New on Netflix: Enola Holmes was a huge hit when it first premiered. The movie is based on a book series, with the storyline not focusing on Sherlock Holmes, but on his little sister.

The sequel was confirmed back in 2021, with no confirmed release date yet. But the movie is definitely coming in 2022.

In July 2022, Netflix confirmed that the sequel would arrive “later in 2022.” Since filming has wrapped, there shouldn’t be any more delay to that planned release date–whenever that might be.

We know that Enola Holmes 2 will bring back Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill as Enola and Sherlock Holmes, respectively, with writer Jack Thorne and director Harry Bradbeer also returning.

“I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! Enola holds a special place in my heart – she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!” Brown said about the announcement.

Filming for the sequel began in October 2021. By January 2022, Netflix confirmed that filming had finished on Enola Holmes 2.

Brown told reporters that she “fell in love with her” when making the first movie.

“[W]ith the Enola book series… I really am optimistic about the future,” she enthused.

There is no word yet about Sam Claflin coming back as Mycroft Holmes, but it does not seem they would have any problems getting Claflin back.

There’s a host of newcomers joining the fun in the sequel too: Sharon Duncan-Brewster, David Thewlis, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.

At a recent Netflix TUDUM event, Louis Partridge confirmed his return as Tewkesbury. He won’t be alone as Helena Bonham Carter, Adeel Akhtar and Susan Wokoma are back as Eudoria Holmes, Lestrade and Edith, respectively.
