During the event, a fan mentioned his 2006 comedy Chup Chup Ke, prompting him to joke, “In O Romeo, I have done a serious performance. Toh waise filmon waala reference de.”
When asked, “Kya aapko kisi ne shendi lagayi hai?” Shahid laughed and said, “Jab promotions chal rahe hote hai na bro, toh roz shendi lagti hai! Roz plan change hota hai aur roz darr lagta hai. Samaj mein nahin aata hai ki tum log aane waalo ya nahin aane waale ho. Kuch samaj hi nahin aata aaj kal!”
He added, “Maine shendi life mein lagayi hai aur lagi bhi hai. Shendi is one of my favourite words. I follow ‘shendi’ with a word which I can’t utter out here! Lekin tu bol de! I have to be politically correct, but you don’t have that disadvantage.”
About The Film
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, O Romeo stars Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and Vikrant Massey.
Based on Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film has faced controversy. Sanober Shaikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara, has filed a lawsuit seeking to block its release, claiming it is an ‘unauthorised’ biopic that misrepresents her father’s life.
Despite the legal issues, O Romeo is set to release in theatres on February 13, 2026.
