Oppenheimer controversy: Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer is making new records with the outstanding box office collection but it is garnering hate for the inappropriate scene which shows Cillian Murphy chanting the sacred Hindu scripture, Bhagwad Gita. Cillian Murphy revealed in an interview that he read Bhagwad Gita while preparing for the film and the Indians were happy after knowing this. But the involvement of Bhagwad Gita in the film has left them angry. The movie features a scene where Cillian Murphy can be seen chanting Bhagwad Gita while having s*x.
Oppenheimer controversy goes further
Oppenheimer has an important which shows the intimacy between Cillian Murphy’s character J.Robert Oppenheimer and Florence Pugh’s character, Jean Tatlock. In the middle of the s*x scene, Jean requests Oppenheimer to chant a phrase of Bhagwad Gita and this has sparked outrage among the audience. However, the film is performing impressive at the Indian box office but it is receiving a lot of criticism for the same. Online users criticized the makers for including such offensive scenes in the multi-starer movie.
Save India Save Culture Foundation released press release
This scene has left the Indian audience angry and the film has prompted calls for a boycott from many individuals and social media users. Many raised the question that how Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) approved the film. Now, the Save Culture Save India Foundation released a press release over the inclusion of an inappropriate scene involving the Bhagwad Gita.
Save Culture Save India Foundation said in their press release, “A scene in the movie shows a woman makes a man read Bhagwad Geeta aloud while getting over him and doing sexual intercourse. A divine gift to human civilization by Bhagwan Sri Krishna, the Bhagwad Geeta, is one of the most revered scriptures of Hinduism. Geeta has been the inspiration for countless sanyasis, brahmcharis and legends who live a life of self-control and perform selfless noble deeds.”

Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan's first film to be given an R classification. However, India's censor board gave the picture a U/A classification after the studio deleted several s*x scenes to make it shorter. According to accounts, the studio removed the sequence because they did not believe the censor board would accept it.
