Oscars 2023: India’s ‘All that Breathes’ bags nomination in the ‘Best Documentary’ category

Oscars 2023: All That Breathes, India’s sole entry for the BAFTA Awards 2023, has also received an Oscar nomination for 2023. Shaunak Sen’s documentary was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary. The story follows the lives of brothers Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who rescue and care for injured birds, notably black kites.

After BAFTA ‘All That Breathes’ gets nominated in Oscars 2023

All That Breathes, a documentary from India, has been nominated for Best Documentary at the 2023 Academy Awards. The film, directed by Shaunak Sen, has received numerous international awards. Riz Ahmed, an Oscar-winning actor and producer, and Allison Williams hosted the presentation of the 95th Academy Awards nominations.

Previously, India’s All That Breathes garnered the country glory after receiving a nomination at the prestigious BAFTA Awards. All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Fire of Love, Moonage Daydream, and Navalny will compete with the documentary. The BAFTA Awards will be held next month, with Richard E Grant and Alison Hammond hosting the show.

International Honours

The documentary was one of India’s most successful 2022 exports. After winning the World Documentary Grand Jury Prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, it also took home the L’Oeil d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. HBO recently acquired the rights to All That Breathes. Following its debut in the United States later in 2022, the documentary will be broadcast on HBO and its streaming service HBO Max in 2023.
