Oscars 2023: Naatu Naatu gets nominated in the ‘Best Original Song’ category after winning Golden Globe Award

The Oscars 2023 nominations for the 95th year will be announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. The voting for Oscar nominations began on January 11, 2023, and will end on January 17, 2023. Today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences finally revealed the official list of Oscar nominees in major categories. In a live presentation from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Oscar-winning actor and producer Riz Ahmed hosted the announcement of the 95th Oscar nominations with Allison Williams in all 23 Academy Award categories. This year’s Oscar nominations are special for India because four titles have been shortlisted in various categories. Indian fans were hoping for a nod for SS Rajamouli’s RRR as well.

RRR’s Naatu Naatu gets nominated in Oscars 2023

After winning the Golden Globe Awards 2023, RRR’s Naatu Naatu has been nominated for 95th Academy Awards 2023 in the ‘Best Original Song’ category. Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film Chhello Show (Last Film Show in English) was chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars for the Best International Feature category, leaving RRR out. However, the team decided to campaign and submitted nominations to the Academy Awards in a variety of categories such as Best Actor, Best Visual Effects, Best Music, and others. And now, RRR has finally made it to the Oscars in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.

RRR is a Telugu drama film directed by SS Rajamouli, who also co-wrote the screenplay with famed playwright V. Vijayendra Prasad. RRR, the epic period drama that will be released in theatres in March 2022, has received rave reviews from audiences all around the world. The SS Rajamouli-directed film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from a variety of international outlets, as well as Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards.
