The Oscars 2025 Best Documentary winner took the stage of a grand night with many eyes on the event and raised the voices. Take a look.
Oscars 2025: Best Documentary Winner Raises Their Voice For Palestine-Israel Issue
After making a documentary on the issue that is sensitive all over the world, Palestine-Israel, the No Other Land directors Basel Ardra and Yuval Abraham raised their voices after receiving the Best Documentary at the Oscars. Basel talked about his 2-month-old daughter and said that 'About 2 months ago I became a father and my hope to my daughter that she will not have to live the same life I'm living now. Always fearing home demolition and force displacement, that my community is facing every day. No Other Land reflects the harsh reality that we've been enduring for decades. And still resist as we call on the war to take serious action to stop the injustice and ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people.'
Why Palestinians and Israelis Made No Other Land Together?
Since both countries' people are involved in the making of this documentary, another director of the film, an Israeli journalist, talked about other issues. director Yuval said, 'We made this film, Palestinian and Israeli, because together our voices are stronger. We see each other, the atrocious destruction of Gaza, which must end. Israeli hostages brutally taken in the crime of October 7th, which must be freed. When I look at Basel, I see my brother but we're unequal. We live in a regime where I am free and under civilian law and Basel is under military law that he can't control.' Further, Yuval said that there can be a political solution for the issue. He said, 'A political solution without thinking of supremacy with national rights for both of our people.' He also talked about the US foreign policy, which apparently supports Israel. He said, 'The foreign policy of this country is helping to block this path and why, can't you see that we're intertwined? If my people can be truly safe, if Basel's people can be truly free and safe, there is another way. It's not too late for the life of the living.'
Their speech wreaked havoc at the Oscars 2025 award ceremony as everyone started clapping immediately, their speech with supportive cheering can be heard in the background. Not only that, the speech immediately became a viral topic on the social media and started trending on X.
