The late filmmaker Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra died at 74. She had been ailing for quite some time now and was admitted to a Mumbai hospital for two weeks. Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar confirmed the news of Pamela Chopra's death on Thursday. She is survived by her sons Aditya Chopra, who is married to actor Rani Mukerji, and Uday Chopra.

Tweeting about her death on Thursday, Javed Akhtar, said, “Today Pam ji, the better half of Shri Yash Chopra has passed away. She was a great lady. Intelligent, educated, warm and witty. Those who like me have worked closely with Yash ji know about her contribution in his scripts and music. She was an exceptional person.”
The official handle of Yash Raj films also took to Instagram to share a note thanking fans for their prayers.
“With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection," the note read.
Bollywood celebs pay tribute
Anushka Sharma, who made her debut with Yash Raj Films’ Rabb Ne Bana Di Jodi, took to her Instagram handle to pay her tributes as she wrote, "RIP Pam aunty" with a red heart emoji.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also expressed grief at Pamela Chopra’s death and wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Pamela Chopra (Pam auntie) wife of Late Yash Chopra ji. Ever smiling women of substance with full of positive vibes will be missed by the entire film industry."
Ajay Devgn, offering his condolences, wrote, “My thoughts & prayers are with Adi, Rani, Uday and all members of the Chopra family in their hour of grief. RIP respected Pam Chopra Ji. Om Shanti,” he wrote.

Singer-music director Amaal Mallik also penned down a long note remembering Pamela Chopra. “The sweetest lady Pamela Chopra ji passes away today to be united with her beloved,” he wrote.
“What a sweetheart she was, always checking if everyone was doing okay in the building..Asking everyone if they had eaten, rested, or needed anything… Both these lovely should aren’t with us today,” he wrote.
