Panchayat Season 4 dropped on Amazon Prime Video at midnight on June 24, but the new episodes have sparked a mixed reaction online. While some viewers called the season emotional and nostalgic, many others felt let down by the slow pace and a disappointing ending.

The show brings back Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav and the rest of the cast, continuing the story from the fictional village of Phulera. But this time, fans say the focus has shifted, and not in a good way. With less screen time for Sachiv Ji and more political drama, some felt the soul of the show was missing.

Panchayat Season 4 Review: Netizens Feel The Plot Was Dragged, Climax Disappointed

One major complaint is the shift away from Jitendra Kumar’s character. Instead, the spotlight is now on the growing rivalry between Pradhan Ji and Bhushan. While this brought in new tension, many viewers felt it dragged the plot and took away from the emotional charm the show is known for.

One user gave the show a 3.75/5 and said that the performances were great, but the season felt dragged in many parts. Another called the climax the weakest one yet, adding that the episodes didn’t land the way they had hoped. A few even questioned if the makers were rushing the story without giving the characters enough space.

Many also pointed out the lack of comedy, which was once a core strength of Panchayat. With more politics and less humour, the tone felt heavier than in previous seasons. The slow-burn approach, which once felt fresh, now seems repetitive to a chunk of the audience.

Panchayat Season 5 Is Already In Works

Despite the criticism, the love for Phulera hasn’t gone away. Fans are hopeful the next season will bounce back. Sanvikaa (who plays Rinki) confirmed to OTTplay, “The process for Panchayat Season 5 has begun, and hopefully, maybe by mid-next year or sometime next year, it will be released. We are likely to begin the shoot for Season 5 at the end of this year or next year. Writing has started.”

With a new power shift and the possibility of key characters exiting, a lot is riding on Season 5. Fans are hoping the makers take the feedback seriously and deliver a stronger finale. Whether the charm of Phulera can be revived remains to be seen.

Created by The Viral Fever (TVF), written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat continues to represent rural India in a way that’s rare in Indian streaming. But the pressure is now on Season 5 to deliver and reconnect with its core audience.
