A major political row has broken out between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana after Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made a controversial remark during his visit to Konaseema. He linked the recent crop damage in the region to the “evil eye” of Telangana people. His comment sparked anger across Telangana and has now led to threats of banning his films in the state.
Telangana Minister Threatens Pawan Kalyan To BAN His Films After Controversial Remark
Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy condemned the remark and demanded an unconditional apology. He accused Kalyan of insulting the people of Telangana and warned that there would be consequences if he did not withdraw his words.
As quoted by Midday, Venkat Reddy said, Pawan Kalyan apologises, his movies will be screened at least for a couple of days, but if he fails to apologise, his films will not release anywhere in Telangana. I am saying this as the minister for cinematography.”
What Sparked The Anger
The controversy began in November 2025 when Kalyan visited the Konaseema region. Coconut farmers there have been struggling due to seawater intrusion. While speaking to them, he said the “evil eye” of Telangana people was behind the dying coconut trees. The remark went viral and drew strong reactions.
Telangana leaders called the statement unscientific and irresponsible. Animal Husbandry Minister Vakati Srihari said Kalyan was “unable to digest” Telangana’s development and claimed he “lacks” maturity.
Leaders also stressed that the issue was environmental. They said the crop loss was linked to drainage and soil problems in Konaseema, not jealousy from another state. Some even questioned why Kalyan still lives in Hyderabad if he believes Telangana people have ill intentions. Several politicians demanded that he apologise immediately.
Kalyan’s Visit To Farmers
Pawan Kalyan’s visit was originally meant to support the farmers. He met the affected families in the Rajolu constituency and promised a 45-day action plan to address the seawater intrusion problem.
He also asked officials to study the drainage system and said he would raise the matter with the state cabinet and the central government.
Upcoming Projects Of Pawan Kalyan
Even as the political tension grows, fans are waiting for Kalyan’s next film, Bro 2. Director Samuthirakani recently shared an update. He said, “Bro 2 script is ready. I am waiting for anna garu’s (Pawan Kalyan) signal. As soon as he gives permission, the project will take off.”
The first film (Bro) was released in 2023. It was the Telugu remake of Vinodhaya Sitham and featured Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej in lead roles. The fantasy drama explored themes of time and second chances, with Kalyan playing the “God of Time”.
