Payal Ghosh joins Republican Party of India as head of women's wings

Bollywood actor Payal Ghosh is making a lot of headlines nowadays. In the recent, she has joined Union Minister Ramdas Athwale-led Republican Party of India(A) in Mumbai. She has been designated as the vice president of party's women's wing.

Athawale said that Ghosh's presence in party will strengthen women's particiaption in political activities.

“I told her RPI(A) is Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s party. It helps all sections of society, be it Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs, villagers, slum dwellers. The RPI will get a good face if you join the party. After I discussed this with her, she was ready to join the party,” Athawale said.

For the event, Payal was dressed in a traditional blue suit salwar and was seen waiving a party flag.

Payal, meanwhile, has been in news after she accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of rape charges. Athawale also insisted that Kashyap will be arrested soon.

Ghosh expressed gratitude towards Athwale for believing in her and supporting her in case against Anurag Kashyap.

Ghosh is a model-turned-actor who made her Bollywood debut with Patel ki Punjabi Shaadi, a film which also starred Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vir Das and Prem Chopra.

Payal had filed a rape case against Anurag Kashyap in September 22 in Mumbai police. The FIR was registered under Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
