Pippa Review: Ishaan Khattar Performs to Potential, Shows His Versatility in This War Film

In the latest Ishaan Khattar starrer, Pippa, the war, a portrayal of a war hero is done right.

Pippa Review: Period dramas and war films are not new to Bollywood. Bollywood has been seeing a lot of successful war films ranging from Uri to Shershaah. However, this period piece, Pippa is directed by Raja Menon brings a new tale of a war hero, played by Ishaan Khattar. With the stellar cast, the movie takes the audience back to the 70s in a solid attempt.

What is Pippa about?

The movie is set in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war in the 1970s. During the time of mass murder of the innocent, a war hero, Balram Singh Mehta, shines. This inspiring personality steps up and fights against the opposition with courage and bravery in the 45th Cavalry Regiment. With Ishaan Khattar playing Balram Singh, his sister played by Mrunal Thakur is an intelligent woman, whose plight is also depicted with complexity. Moreover, Balram Singh’s family dynamic is also depicted with utmost care, where he is an outcast in his family. The word Pippa is a Punjabi word for barrel and there is a big significance of barrels in the movie.

Positives of Pippa

Ishan Kahtter shows his versatility as an actor. Moreover, his relentless hard work pays off in this role, marking one of his best performances ever. Moreover, Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli also nailed their respective roles of Radha and Ram. At the same time, the pace of the movie was very well kept, and the audience was kept on edge throughout the film with realistic dialogues and great editing. Therefore, it lives up to the expectation mark of the Indian audience left by other war drama films. Moreover, the story has been portrayed with sensitivity and respect.

Negatives of Pippa

The film brings an important story to the screen. However, the main storyline of the movie falls a little predictable at times. Moreover, the VFX of the film does not live up to the other war films, taking out the intensity and drama of certain scenes
