Bollywood actor, writer and lyricist Piyush Mishra has never been someone who sugarcoats things, and his latest interview is proof of that. As conversations grow around the rising entourage culture in Bollywood, Piyush has now shared his own experiences. Recently, filmmakers like Karan Johar and Farah Khan spoke about the huge number of staff members some actors travel with, which increases a film’s budget. Now, Piyush has stepped in with his honest take.
Piyush Mishra Says Bollywood Actors Throw Tantrums, South Is Humble
In a conversation with Curly Tales, Piyush said he genuinely enjoys working in the South film industry. He explained that people there are warm, respectful and have no ego issues. Talking about his experience with director S Shankar during Indian 2, he shared, “He is such a big director, but he came to introduce himself to me. I thought, such a big person, and he’s speaking so humbly. The culture there is amazing.”
He then compared this to Bollywood’s behaviour. According to him, the Bollywood system is full of unnecessary drama. He said that actors often arrive with a long line of assistants and security staff. Calling it needless, he added, “Ajeeb sa stardom hai. They have a lot of hang-ups. The actors have such a long entourage, 8-9 people will come with them, along with 12-14 bodyguards. Kya zarurat hai? Akeli jaan ho, aapko kaun maarne araha hai? Ek insaan drink karne ke liye hai, ek drink karane ke liye hai, ek baal banane ke liye aur ek make-up karne ke liye hai. Kya zarurat hai dusron pe itna bhoj daalne ki?”
Piyush Calls Ranbir Kapoor His Favourite
Piyush also opened up about working with some of the biggest stars in India, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar. He said, “Shah Rukh ke liye maine Dil Se mein kaam kiya. Meri pehli film woh thi. Aamir ke liye maine yeh film likhi… kya naam hai… kya film thi… woh tha South ki Ghajini, woh likhi maine. Achha to tab uske saath kaam karne ka mauka mila. Salman ko main mila nahin aaj tak, jaanta bhi nahin main. Akshay ke saath… Akshay Kumar ke saath maine Shaukeens ki.”
But the moment Ranbir Kapoor’s name came up, Piyush lit up. He immediately said, “Ranbir ki baat hi mat karo yaar. Woh toh khair gajab hai.”
Praising Ranbir’s grounded personality despite his massive stardom, he added, “Woh toh unmein nahi… aisa woh star wala jo tantrums-tants wagaira kuch nahi hai. Use maloom hai ki woh itna bada star hai. Actually, he knows kitna bada star hai. Koi hang-up nahi hai uski. Gajab hi banda hai.”
For Piyush, Ranbir stands out because he understands his own stardom but doesn’t let it control him. According to him, Ranbir has no airs, no tantrums, and no unnecessary demands — something he believes is rare in Bollywood today.
