Ponniyin Selvan 2 box office collection: Mani Ratnam’s much awaited film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ hit the theaters last Friday (April 28). After the immense success of its first installment ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, fans had high hopes from the second part as well. The film lived up to those expectations and managed to collect big numbers at the box office. In just two days of its release, ‘PS 2’ has crossed the figure of Rs 50 crores and Rs 100 crores, domestically and worldwide, respectively.

According to Sacnilk, PS 2 did a business of Rs 38 crores worldwide on the first day of its release and on the second day, the figure has crossed Rs 100 crore. The film has collected Rs 50 crores in two days in overseas only.
The first part of the film ‘PS 1’ collected around Rs 500 crores worldwide. It was released on September 30 2022 and became the third highest grossing film of the year.
Cast of the Ponniyin Selvan 2
The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles. The film has been helmed by Mani Ratnam. PS franchise is Aishwarya’s fourth project with the ace director, while it marks her second collaboration with Chiyaan Vikram.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on a novel
Ponniyin Selvan is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name. This novel came in the year 1955. The second part begins with Poniyan Selvan facing his death which was the conclusion scene of the first part.
