Prahaar Movie Review: Powerful Pre-Interval Block, Kasab Juvenile Claim Takedown Lift the Film, Ujjwal Nikam’s Family Life Falls Flat

Prahaar impresses with a powerful pre-interval sequence and courtroom arguments around Kasab’s juvenile claim, but Ujjwal Nikam’s family-life track falls flat.

Prahaar is a film about a courtroom, which is inspired by vigorous arguments, a legal battle for justice, etc. It is when it tries to narrate the case, and the arguments over the Kasab juvenile claim that the movie delivers its best. The portions on Ujjwal Nikam’s personal life, however, fail to live up to it.

Strong Power Pre-interval Block Maintains Engagement

One of the best aspects of the film is the potent pre-interval sequence. The tension snowballs as the courtroom time flies by in the first hour, and is a compelling few minutes. It takes a powerful dramatic thrust before the interval. Its concentration and courtroom intensity serve to underline the gravity of what is being discussed and prepare for what is to come.

Kasab Juvenile Claim Takedown Adds Impact

Where the film picks up speed, however, is when it deals with the age of Ajmal Kasab. The courtroom disputes and accusations on this front serve some of the most interesting portions of the story. This part is helped along by the struggle of a court case and the desire for facts through evidence and argument. It also gives the plot a greater sense of purpose, which makes the courtroom story more dynamic than the weaker segments.

Ujjwal Nikam’s Family Life Falls Flat

This time, the courtroom scenes are intense, but the sections that delve into Ujjwal Nikam’s family life fail to register. Instead, they try to reveal the side of a lawyer who manages having a busy career. But these emotional scenes don’t always sit comfortably with the bigger story of the court case. The material on family life is nowhere near as dramatic, and brings the film to a halt, diluting the power of the more interesting sequences.

Real-Life Inspiration Adds Weight to the Story

Real-life legal background helps the film you draw strength from its realistic to the courtroom proceedings in the case. Developments relating to case adds to the tension and also gives the audience an idea of how difficult it is to seek justice.
