Protest against Pathaan

Protest against Pathaan: Activists of an outfit staged a protest against the upcoming Bollywood film Pathaan and its song Besharam Rang in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on Wednesday. The activists of a fringe outfit “Veer Shivaji Group” gathered at a road intersection in Indore and burnt effigies of actors Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. They demanded a ban on the film, set to hit the screens on December 25. They alleged the Hindu community was offended by the content of the "Besharam Rang" song.

Mishra against ‘objectional scenes’

The protest came hours after state minister Narottam Mishra called for a ban on the movie over "objectionable scenes" and the use of saffron costumes.

The makers of Pathaan, the most anticipated films of 2023, dropped the first song, Besharam Rang, recently. Soon it became debatable after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra expressed displeasure over the colour of the attire of Padukone and lead actor Shah Rukh Khan, calling for its "rectification".

Mishra said if certain scenes in the song are not "corrected", the government will consider what to do about the screening of the movie in the state.

Notably, Narottam Mishra in October had warned the makers of the Bollywood film Adipurush, based on the epic Ramayana, of legal action if scenes showing Hindu religious figures in the "wrong" way were not removed.

SRK asked to apologise

Earlier, Mishra performed puja at the birthplace of Lord Parshuram at Janapav Kuti near Mhow and later targeted the film Pathaan and the song Besharam Rang.

Meanwhile, Chandrashekhar Tiwari, president of Sanskriti Bachao Manch, also protested against the song 'Besharam Rang' and members of his group protested against lead actors.

Talking to reporters, Tiwari said, "This is an insult to our saffron dress, which Sanskruti Bachao Manch will not tolerate. Shahrukh Khan, when Hindus started boycotting your film, you remembered Vaishno devi. Before the release of your film, you are going to Vaishno Devi. You will have to apologize to all Hindus and remove the song from this film because the people of India made you a superstar. Shahrukh Khan, why are you always degrading your image by doing such acts? You should apologise to all Sanatan Dharma believers."
