Rajinikanth made a heartfelt moment at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) in Goa as he received a lifetime achievement award for completing 50 years in cinema. The 74-year-old star stood on stage with simple pride and thanked everyone who supported his journey.
Rajinikanth Wishes To Be Born As An Actor In Every Life
A video of his speech went viral soon after the event. In the clip, Rajinikanth said, “Fifty years of acting in cinema felt like 10 or 15 years. If there are 100 more janams (lives), I would like to be born as an actor and as Rajinikanth. All this honour goes to the cinema industry and mainly to the Tamil people, the gods who keep me alive.” His words moved the audience. People stood up to applaud him, and he folded his hands in gratitude.

Rajinikanth reached Goa earlier in the day to a warm welcome. Fans waited outside his hotel to greet him. Staff members met him with flowers and smiles. Videos from the venue showed him walking in with calm energy as dhol beats played. He waved at fans and greeted everyone with humility. His family later joined him at the ceremony to mark the milestone.
About IFFI 2025
IFFI 2025 closed on 28 November with a grand celebration of cinema. The festival brought together filmmakers and artists from many countries. This year, IFFI honoured the centenaries of Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, P. Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika and Salil Chowdhury. Restored versions of their classic films were screened for the audience.
The Indian Panorama section was another highlight. It showcased 25 feature films, 20 non-feature films and five debut projects. The selection reflected the range of stories and voices shaping Indian cinema today. It also showed how new filmmakers continue to explore fresh ideas while staying connected to tradition.
Rajinikanth’s emotional speech became one of the most memorable moments of the night. It reminded fans why he remains one of India’s most loved icons. His words also showed his gratitude for the people who supported him through five decades in the industry.
