Ramayana teaser reveals Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and a brief look at Yash’s Ravana. While some praise the scale, others question the visuals and big budget.

Ramayana Teaser has finally been dropped on Hanuman Jayanti 2026, giving viewers a first look at the film. Titled “Rama”, the teaser introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. It was launched at an event in Mumbai and has quickly started conversations online.

The teaser does not reveal much of the story. Instead, it focuses on visuals, characters and the overall tone. While some viewers liked the scale, others raised questions about the execution. As a result, the Ramayana Teaser has received mixed reactions so far.

Ramayana Teaser Offers First Look At Rama And Ravana

The Ramayana Teaser opens with Ranbir Kapoor’s entry into Ayodhya. He is welcomed with flowers, showing his royal presence. The video then moves through different parts of his journey. These include scenes from his exile with Sita and Lakshmana, along with a few moments where he appears in a warrior role.

Towards the end, the teaser shows a short glimpse of Yash as Ravana. His full look is not revealed, but the brief appearance adds contrast to Rama’s calm character. This one frame of Yash in the end is breaking the internet.

Sharing the teaser, producer Namit Malhotra wrote, “Rama is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self. His legacy continues to enhance and empower humanity over time and bring the belief in the goodness of the human spirit to resolve all conflict and bring peace to the world.”

Ramayana Teaser Gets Mixed Reactions Online

After the release, the Ramayana Teaser saw different reactions on social media. Some users appreciated the effort, while others criticised the visuals and expectations linked to the film’s budget.

One Reddit user wrote, “Om raut ko dikhao ye.” Another commented, “Yash has better looks than RK. You will see tension between them soon.”

A third user said, “Only yash looked good.Subpar animation for the money they have put.” Another added, “Itni badi hollywood ki vfx company ne 4000cr budget laga ke banaya hai, with that first shot in the trailer I thought this is some videogame or fan made trailer. Nah bro visuals needed to be a lot better than this.”

One more user shared, “Its actually not that bad but neither good, but for those who had expections its actually bad bad , how is this 4000 crore budget ?”

Makers Share Vision Behind Ramayana

Director Nitesh Tiwari explained the film’s idea and said, “Ramayana’s greatness lies in its emotional richness. At its heart, it is not just about good and evil, but about choices, consequences, and the weight of doing what is right. Rama’s journey is deeply human, and that is what we have tried to stay true to.”

Ranbir Kapoor also spoke about his role. He said, “I don’t think I’m here to represent Rama. I’m here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity to him that is very rare, and trying to understand and imbibe that has been a deeply humbling experience.”

Namit Malhotra added, “The power of Rama’s story is not in what he conquers, but in what he lets go of. He represents a standard that is not easy, not convenient, but necessary. He chooses duty over desire, truth over comfort, and sacrifice over self. That is why his story has endured for thousands of years, and why it continues to matter today.”

Alia Bhatt also reacted and said, “It’s absolutely fabulous. I think Ranbir has just done such a beautiful job, and I just can’t wait for you guys to see it. It’s just out of this world.”
