The trailer for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana released worldwide on July 30 at 4:15 AM IST, a highly unusual slot for a film promotion. Instead of a prime-time launch, producer Namit Malhotra chose Brahma Muhurta, one of the most auspicious periods in Hindu tradition, occurring roughly an hour and 36 minutes before sunrise.
Why the Pre-Dawn Slot
Malhotra announced the timing on Instagram, writing that the team was welcoming “the Dawn of Ramayana” during the sacred hour. Given that the film retells one of Hinduism’s most sacred epics, launching during this holy window was meant to reflect devotion and purity rather than chase peak social-media engagement. The trailer had originally been planned for July 24 but was pushed back after Sony Pictures Entertainment came on board for global distribution.

The footage gives audiences their first extended look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama across multiple phases of his arc — regal and flower-showered in one moment, dressed in simple bark clothing during exile in another, plus a forest battle and a quieter scene by a waterfall. Sai Pallavi appears as Sita alongside Ravi Dubey’s Lakshmana, while Yash’s Ravana looms in the background with his Pushpak Vimana, setting up Sita’s eventual abduction. The score comes from Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman together, with Part 1 aimed at a Diwali 2026 release and Part 2 following at Diwali 2027.
