Ranveer Singh nude photoshoot: Actor seeks more time to appear before police

New Delhi: Ranveer Singh, who has been embroiled in a controversy over a nude photoshoot for a magazine, recently requested a two-week extension to appear before the Mumbai Police.
According to ANI, the actor was summoned by Mumbai Police on August 22. However, after requesting two weeks’ time, Chembur police will issue a new summons after setting a new date.

ANI tweeted, ‘Nude photoshoot controversy | Chembur police station had summoned actor Ranveer Singh asking him to appear tomorrow. The actor has sought 2 weeks time to appear, now fresh summons will be sent by Chembur police after fixing a new date: Mumbai Police.’

Last month, Ranveer posed naked for Paper Magazine. Last month, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women filed a complaint against the actor in response. According to the complaint, the nude photoshoot was done by actor Ranveer Singh and was widely circulated on social media. Following that, a FIR was filed against the actor at Chembur police station under the IPC and IT Act.

The complainant claims that the way the images have gone viral on social media is clearly against the dignity of women and children. Given the gravity of the situation, the commission should issue a formal notice to actor Ranveer Singh, and the controversial photo should be removed from social media. The complaint has also requested that the Women’s Commission take action on its own initiative.
