The Red Fort Blast on Monday evening left the nation in shock and sadness. Around 6:52 pm, a Hyundai i20 exploded near the Red Fort Metro station in Delhi. The blast killed at least eight people and injured several others. The tragic incident shook not only the capital but also the film industry.
Panic spread quickly across Old Delhi. Shops shut down, traffic came to a halt, and people ran for safety. Police soon cordoned off the area and began investigating possible terror links. Images of smoke, damaged vehicles, and shattered glass near the Red Fort flooded social media.
Soon after the Red Fort Blast, Bollywood and South Indian film stars expressed grief and solidarity on social media.
Celebrities React To Red Fort Blast
Actor Thalapathy Vijay was among the first to react. His official account (TVK Vijay) wrote on X, “Deeply shocked and saddened by the news of car explosion near Red Fort Metro, Delhi that has claimed precious lives. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Wishing speedy recovery to all those injured.”
Actress Raveena Tandon also expressed sorrow. She wrote, “Condolences to all those bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the Delhi blast. Horrible news.”
Fateh actor Sonu Sood posted an emotional note. He said, “My heart reaches out to everyone impacted by today’s tragic blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. Let’s support the victims, look out for each other, and commit to peace.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also reacted to the Red Fort Blast. She shared on Instagram Stories – “My prayers for those who have lost their lives and their families and for those who are injured. Saddened at the Red Fort Blast, may they find the culprits and punish them severely. Prayers and more prayers.”
What Exactly Happened
According to reports, the explosion occurred at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro station. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that the blast took place inside a Hyundai i20 car. The explosion injured pedestrians and damaged nearby vehicles.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said a slow-moving vehicle stopped at a red light before the explosion. Police have filed a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
As per ANI, CCTV footage shows the suspect’s car entering and leaving the parking area. Early findings suggest the driver was alone at the time.
