Ashneer Grover is back on screen after more than three years. Known for his outspoken role as a judge on Shark Tank India, he now steps in as the host of a brand-new reality show, Rise and Fall. The show streams on Amazon MX Player and also airs daily on Sony Entertainment Television.
In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Grover spoke about his comeback, the format of the show, and whether he is worried about being compared with Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 19.
Ashneer Grover On What Makes Rise And Fall Unique
Unlike most reality shows, Rise and Fall divides its contestants into two groups. One lives in a luxurious penthouse, while the other struggles in a basement. Both groups must grow the prize money while avoiding elimination. The twist is that anyone can win, no matter where they are placed.
Explaining the concept, Grover said, “If I’m not wrong, that was based more on the game Mafia. This is very different in the sense that we’re dividing the house into two. Both the groups have to work towards increasing their prize money while also ensuring they don’t get thrown down.” He added that the possibility of winners coming from any side is what makes the show exciting.
On Fear Of Being Compared With Bigg Boss 19
When asked if Rise and Fall could be compared to Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 19, Grover didn’t shy away. He said, “Nahi yaar, fear kya hai? (Why fear?). We’ve launched a new product in the market. It’s a free market. If you launch a new soap in the market and ask not to be compared to other soaps out there, that’s strictly your perception.”
He added that such comparisons are natural but won’t stop his show from growing. “It’s not like my show is going to shut down because of that. It’s a free market, and you’ve to take that in your stride.”
Grover also shared a personal note on the meaning of the title Rise and Fall. For him, setbacks are part of life and should not be hidden. He explained, “Fall happens in everyone’s life. People just don’t talk about it because they somehow think hiding it has more value than admitting it. It’s nothing new that’s happening to you, so don’t self-victimise yourself.”
Meanwhile, Rise And Fall is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
