Hollywood has lost one of its most beloved stars. Robert Redford, the legendary actor and director, has died at the age of 89 at his home in Utah. He was best known for classics like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, All the President’s Men and Ordinary People. His work inspired generations of actors, filmmakers and audiences around the world.

Robert Redford Death: Bollywood Celebs Pay Tribute

The news of Redford’s passing has deeply moved Bollywood. Kareena Kapoor shared her grief on Instagram. She posted one of his quotes, “Storytelling is important. Part of human continuity,” along with a photo of the late actor. In another post, she added, “In Power Legend.”

Priyanka Chopra also remembered him. She shared a picture on her Instagram story and wrote “Icon” with a folded hands emoji. Actress Soni Razdan expressed her sadness with a broken heart emoji, while Nargis Fakhri posted a tribute too. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shared a throwback photo of Redford, calling him an inspiration.

Anil Kapoor shared an emotional message on X. He wrote, “Rest in peace, Robert Redford. From Barefoot in the Park to The Great Gatsby, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and all the films in between — he was one of the most beautiful, captivating men ever. His personality, that legendary jawline, that smile… beyond compare.”

Robert Redford Career

Redford started his career in 1959 with television roles in shows like Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He then moved to theatre in New York, making his debut with Tall Story. His big break came with Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park, which he later adapted into a film in 1967 with Jane Fonda.

His first film role was in War Hunt (1962), where he worked with Sydney Pollack. Pollack later directed him in seven films, including The Electric Horseman and the Oscar-winning Out of Africa. Redford’s stardom reached new heights after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in 1969, which became the top-grossing film of the year.

In 1980, he directed Ordinary People, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Redford never stopped working. He appeared in films like A Walk in the Woods (2015), The Old Man & the Gun (2018), and even returned to the Marvel universe in Avengers: Endgame (2019). He also produced hit television shows, including AMC’s Dark Winds.

Family And Personal Life

Redford’s personal life had its share of struggles. With his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen, he had four children. Sadly, their first son, Scott, passed away as a baby. Later in life, Redford married artist Sibylle Szaggars in 2009, and they remained together until his death.

Robert Redford’s passing marks the end of an era in cinema. He was not only an actor but also a storyteller, director and producer who shaped Hollywood in unforgettable ways.
