Salim Khan Health Update: Why Is 90-Year-Old Screenwriter Hospitalised? Salman Khan Looks Tense In Viral Video As He Visits Him At Hospital

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, 90, was hospitalised in Mumbai due to swelling. Salman Khan visited the hospital, showing concern as doctors keep him under observation.

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on February 17, after experiencing health issues that required immediate care. Reports suggest that the 90-year-old was hospitalised following complaints of swelling. His family promptly took him to the Bandra-based hospital for proper treatment.

While fans and the film fraternity were initially concerned, sources close to the family have confirmed that his condition is stable and being closely monitored. Salim Khan has faced age-related health issues in the past, including lower back pain, for which he received treatment as recently as January 2026.

Salman Khan Visits Salim Khan At Lilavati Hospital

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was seen at Lilavati Hospital shortly after his father’s admission. Dressed in a black T-shirt and cap and under heavy security, he did not speak to the media outside. Observers noted that Salman appeared tense, showing his concern for his father. Salman’s sister Alvira Agnihotri also visited the hospital.

Salim Khan celebrated his 90th birthday last November, and his daughter Arpita Khan shared photos from the occasion, calling him her “galaxy.” He has previously undergone successful medical procedures, including hernia surgery in 2015 at the same hospital. Doctors are keeping him under close observation to monitor the swelling and ensure there are no complications.

Salim Khan’s Legendary Career And Personal Life

Salim Khan rose to fame in the 1970s as part of the iconic writing duo Salim-Javed, alongside Javed Akhtar. They created classic films like Haathi Mere Saathi, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Zanjeer, and the blockbuster Sholay. Their other hits include Deewaar, Trishul, Don, Dostana and Shakti, making them the highest-paid screenwriters of their time.

Salim-Javed also created the legendary “angry young man” persona (often portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan), which redefined Hindi cinema. The duo parted ways in 1982, with Javed Akhtar focusing on lyrics and Salim continuing scriptwriting. After the split, Salim wrote the script of Sanjay Dutt’s Naam, regaining recognition in the industry.

On the personal front, Salim Khan was first married to Salma Khan, with whom he has four children: Salman, Sohail, Arbaaz and Alvira. In 1981, he married Helen, and they later adopted Arpita Khan. Salim currently lives in Mumbai with Helen and Salman Khan.
