Salman Khan mourns CDS Bipin Rawat’s demise

General Bipin Rawat’s tragic death has sent shockwaves across the nation. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and 12 others, including his wife Madhulika, died in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on Wednesday, December 8. There were a total of 14 people on board, out of which one person has survived. Group Captain Varun Singh, who survived the crash, is currently in a criticial condition and is undergoing treatment.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has now condoled General Bipin Rawat’s death on Twitter. The actor shared an emotional note for him and the others who lost their lives.

Several Bollywood celebrities have condoled the death of General Bipin Rawat on social media. Salman Khan also joined condoled his death and wrote, “Very sad to hear of the tragic crash in which we have lost Gen Bipin Rawat his wife and other personnel from the Armed forces. My thoughts my prayers and condolences are with the bereaved families (sic).”

General Bipin Rawat was on his way to the Defence Staff College in Wellington from the Indian Air Force base in Sulur near Coimbatore.

The helicopter crashed around noon shortly after it took off from the Air Force base in Sulur, Coimbatore, for Wellington in the Nilgiri Hills. The General was heading to the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington to address the faculty and student officers of the Staff Course today.

CDS Rawat was commissioned into the Indian Army in December 1978. He previously served as Chief of the Army Staff from January 2017 to December 2019.
