Salman Khan Starrer ‘Maatrubhumi’ Gets 40% Reshoot, Removes China Angle, Adds Romance – Will Fans Accept New Version?

Salman Khan starrer Maatrubhumi sees major changes with 40% reshoot, China angle removed and romance added. Read for more details!

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is once again in the news as his upcoming film Maatrubhumi goes through major changes before release. The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Chitrangda Singh also plays an important role in the film.

The movie first grabbed attention because it was based on the 2020 India-China border conflict. But now, reports suggest that the story has been changed a lot. It is becoming more fictional and less linked to real events.

Even though interest in the film is still strong, the changes have raised many questions about its final version and release date.

Salman Khan Film Undergoes Major Changes After Review

According to reports, the Ministry of Defence asked the makers to make some changes in the film. After this, the team removed direct references to China.

A source said to Bollywood Hungama, “Accordingly, he reshot nearly 40% of the film as he added some romantic scenes, backstory, etc. The makers submitted the new cut, hoping that they would get the NOC. But the Ministry still has apprehensions.”

The source also added, “One of the requests to Salman Khan is that China shouldn’t be mentioned in the film. This was communicated to the makers in advance. The cut of Maatrubhumi, which was submitted earlier this month, has no mention of China.”

This means the film will now focus more on fiction instead of directly naming any real country involved in the original story.

Maatrubhumi Moves Away From Real Conflict Theme

With around 40% of the film reshot, the new version of Maatrubhumi will now reportedly include more romantic scenes and emotional backstory. This is a big change from its earlier war-based storyline.

Because of these changes, the release plan has also been delayed. This Salman Khan starrer was first expected to be released in April 2026. Later, reports suggested May, but that also now looks uncertain.

The makers have not shared a new release date yet, so fans are still waiting for an official update. While excitement around the film remains high, the repeated changes have created confusion about the final version. It is still not clear how audiences will react to the new storyline.
