The sudden death of veteran actor Satish Shah has left the film and TV world in shock. Known for his sharp wit and comic timing, his passing has created a deep void (especially for his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai family).
On Sunday, his funeral in Mumbai became an emotional goodbye. Cast members Rupali Ganguly, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar were seen breaking down as they paid their last respects.
Satish Shah Funeral: Rupali Ganguly Cries Inconsolably
In one heartbreaking clip, Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly cried inconsolably while saying her final goodbye to her on-screen father-in-law. The emotional moment has left fans teary-eyed. Another video showed Rajesh Kumar (who played Rosesh) walking out in tears.
Earlier, Rupali was seen asking the paparazzi to stop recording her. Her reaction showed how deeply she cared for Shah, who played the witty Indravadan Sarabhai in the sitcom.
Actors Sumeet Raghavan and Rajesh Kumar were among the first to reach Shah’s home. Both looked heartbroken as they comforted his family.
Satish Spoke To Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai Producer Before His Death
Producer JD Majethia (who co-created Sarabhai vs Sarabhai) shared his grief in an interview with PTI. He said, “I couldn’t believe it because he had a chat with Aatish Kapadia at 11 am. He had a chat with Ratna ji at 12:57 pm. And after two hours, we got to know he is no more.” Majethia added that they had planned to meet a day earlier, but Shah said he was too tired.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed that Satish Shah died of kidney failure. His health worsened at home before he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he passed away.
Over his four-decade career, Shah became one of India’s most loved character actors. From Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro to Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Om Shanti Om, his performances remain unforgettable. Yet, it was his role as Indravadan Sarabhai that made him a true TV legend.
