The Indian film and television industry came together in Mumbai on Monday to remember veteran actor Satish Shah. The Sarabhai vs Sarabhai star passed away on October 25 at the age of 74. He left behind a legacy filled with laughter, warmth and unforgettable performances that shaped Indian comedy.
The prayer meet took place at Jalaram Hall in Juhu. Many of his close friends and colleagues attended the ceremony. Among them were Rakesh Roshan, David Dhawan, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonu Nigam, Johny Lever, and Poonam Dhillon. They all came to pay their final respects to the actor.
Satish Shah Prayer Meet: Wife Madhu Sings His Favourite Song
Satish Shah’s wife Madhu (who is battling Alzheimer’s) also attended the prayer meet. She looked fragile yet composed as she sat with family and friends. The most emotional moment came when singer Sonu Nigam paid tribute to the late actor.
He sang “Tere Mere Sapne” from the classic film Guide, one of Satish’s favourite songs. Madhu was seen humming along softly before joining Sonu in singing, leaving many with tears in their eyes.

Rupali Ganguly Requests Paps Not To Record Her
The gathering was filled with love and respect. Actress Rupali Ganguly, who worked with Satish in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, was also present. When photographers began filming Madhu, Rupali stepped forward and made a heartfelt request.
“Aap se ek request… Madhu kaki ka mat lo… Please please,” Rupali said with folded hands, asking the photographers not to record Madhu during such a sensitive time. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai producer JD Majethia also repeated the same request, urging everyone to give the family privacy.
Later, as Madhu left the venue, Rupali was seen asking the photographers again to lower their cameras. “Please niche karlo. Unko jaane do, hum log yahin hain.”
Satish Shah Death: More Details
Satish Shah’s passing has left a huge void in the industry. He died of renal failure at his home in Mumbai on October 25. His manager (Ramesh Kadatala) shared details of his final moments.
“It was around lunchtime, around 2 pm. He was eating lunch and collapsed after having one bite. The ambulance arrived after half an hour, and we took him to the hospital, and he was declared dead.”
His funeral was held the next day, with family and friends coming together to say their final goodbye. Actor Sachin Pilgaonkar later revealed that Satish had undergone a kidney transplant as he wanted to extend his life to take care of his wife, Madhu.
Close friend JD Majethia expressed his grief. “This is a big loss. He was a very knowledgeable person. I spoke to him the day before yesterday. He was absolutely fit, but we couldn’t meet him that day as he said he was very tired and wanted to sleep.”
Satish Shah was last seen in the ZEE5 web series United Kacche alongside Sunil Grover, where he played the role of Jogu Chimanlal Pate.
