Akshay Kumar raised concerns about cybercrime during a public event in Mumbai on Friday. At the launch of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters, he shared a personal story about his daughter to show how easily children can be targeted online.
Akshay Kumar Talks About Dark Side Of Online Gaming
He recalled that a few months ago, his daughter was playing an online video game. While interacting with another player, a stranger asked her gender. When she replied “female,” the stranger immediately asked for nude pictures. Akshay said his daughter switched off the game immediately and told her mother.
Akshay said, “My daughter was playing a video game, and there are some video games that you can play with someone. You are playing with an unknown stranger. While you are playing, sometimes a message comes from there…Then a message came, Are you male or female? So she replied female. And then he sent a message. Can you send me nude pictures of yours? It was my daughter. She switched off the whole thing and she went and told my wife. This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime.”
Actor Urges Maharashtra Govt To Educate School Kids About Cybercrime
The actor urged the Maharashtra government to act. He asked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to introduce a weekly “Cyber Period” for students in classes 7 to 10. During this session, children would learn about online safety, spotting suspicious behaviour and protecting themselves from cyber threats. He said, “You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime.”

On the professional side, Akshay ended 2025 with the courtroom drama Jolly LLB 3, starring Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, Gajendra Rao and Ram Kapoor. The film was praised for its humour and social message.
