Shamshera review: ‘Shamshera’ marks Ranbir Kapoor’s comeback to the big screen after four long years. (Yes, that’s Right!)
And the last time he came on the big screen, it was for Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt – ‘Sanju’ which was appreciated by the audience For not just the plot, but Ranbir’s tremendous acting as well.
Now Four years later, in ‘Shamshera’, Kapoor and Dutt are shown against each other. He plays a character inspired by Robinhood while Dutt plays an extension of one of his previous characters Kancha Cheena in ‘Agneepath’.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is always appreciated for his choice of films and how he always goes for out-of-the-box scripts. But this time (Maybe!) his choice of Comeback wasn’t Right!. So according to some of the netizens, ‘Shamshera’ seemed like a mixture of Bahubali, KGF and ‘thugs of Hindostan’.

The good Part
Well, it has to be Sanjay Dutt’s acting, acing that shades of grey character once again! Then the visuals and action part are obviously on point, and Ranbir Kapoor’s presence is defined he pleasing!
The Bad part
Firstly, the fact that it’s a lot similar to ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is not appreciated by the audience. Then there are some scenes (like the Underwater dance between the couple) which look quite like the waterfall (Romance sequence) from Bahubali.
About Shamshera
So Shamshera is the leader of the Khameran tribe who sacrifices himself for his people’s independence. Focuses on the age-old trope of ‘son fulfilling father’s unfulfilled dreams’ & 25 years later, there is Balli who earns his living by stealing expensive things.
For some reason, Balli always declines to be a part of the Khameran tribe, but later he comes back to ‘his people. He dreams of serving the British army, but later when he faces Shuddh Singh (Sanjay Dutt) who’s also the killer of his father, things take a turn and that’s how a legend always rises to save his tribe.
Will Shamshera bring the crowds back to the theatres? Well the answer is a Big ‘No’.
