Shark Tank India is back with Season 5, but the latest promo is what everyone’s talking about. Instead of pitching new ideas, the promo takes a hilarious shot at India’s work culture and mocks the “70-hour workweek” advice by Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy.
The ad flips the usual format. Instead of asking viewers to apply, it sarcastically tells them not to register and stay loyal to their “crorepati bosses.” The promo is full of satire, roasting toxic hustle culture with a message that’s funny, but sharp.
The promo (created by Moonshot) doesn’t hold back and indirectly aims at Narayana Murthy’s viral comments, where he said, “India’s work productivity is one of the lowest in the world… I would like to work 70 hours a week.”
This statement triggered a major online debate earlier this year. Shark Tank India’s new ad adds to the conversation by using humour to call out the glorification of long work hours.
The promo has gone viral across social media. One user wrote, “This one is insane, too much sarcasm in one promo!” Another joked, “Someone worked overtime for this reel.” One more said, "Dil ki baat bol di." Many are calling it one of the smartest ads to come from an Indian reality show.
Without naming names, the promo hits hard, and people are here for it. Check out the promo below!
Even the sharks had their say. Earlier, Namita Thapar called the idea of working 70 hours a week “unsustainable.” Aman Gupta had a different view. He said hard work helped him reach where he is, and he doesn’t regret it.
The promo doesn’t blame anyone directly, but it clearly criticises the toxic work culture that values hours over health.
Since its debut in 2021, Shark Tank India has become a popular show for budding entrepreneurs. The judges, or sharks, have become household names. And now, with this bold new promo, the show is making noise even before the pitches begin.
