Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor has been roped in to play the iconic supernatural character of Nagin in a three-film franchise. The film, helmed by Vishal Furia and produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, will be a love story which will be made in three-part.
“It’s an absolute delight for me to play a naagin on screen. I have grown up watching, admiring and idolising Sridevi ma’am’s Nagina and Nigahen and always wanted to play a similar role rooted in Indian traditional folklore. It’s like playing an iconic character, which has always been so fascinating for the audience,” the actor said in a statement.
Over the years, Bollywood have witnessed many folklore of the ‘Ichhadhari Naagin’. From Sridevi to Mallika Sherawat, many actress have garnered praises from their portrayal of Naagin. Television moghul Ekta Kapoor’s currently running serial Naagin’s TRP is the prove that there will always be room for such stories in Indian showbiz industry.
Meanwhile, the makers of the film have said that the trilogy will have some never-seen-before VFX effects. It is notable that Shraddha is now new to stories revolving around supernatural characters. In 2018, the actress was seen playing the role of an angry woman’s spirit who abducts men in Stree. The film, which also stars Rajkummar Rao, emerged as the highest grossing film of both, Shraddha and Rajkummar’s career.
On the film front, Shraddha was last seen in Baaghi 3 alongside Tiger Shroff.
