Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is now slowing down at the box office. After a strong third weekend, the film saw a sharp drop in collections on its third Monday. The sports drama fell by 80.65 percent, making the Rs 250 crore mark look difficult.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 1.35 crore net in India on Day 18 (July 7). This was a big drop from its Rs 6.15 crore net earnings on the third Sunday. So far, the film has earned Rs 149.89 crore net at the Indian box office.

While new releases like Metro In Dino and other Hollywood films are giving strong competition, they are not the direct reason for this big dip. Since the film is in its third week, further drop was expected.

Metro In Dino Box Office Collection Day 4

Metro In Dino is having a tough run. After a slow start, the film earned only Rs 2.5 crore on Monday, which is even lower than its opening day. This drop came just a day after it crossed the lifetime earnings of Anurag Basu’s 2007 film Life in a Metro.

The film showed growth over the weekend, collecting Rs 3.5 crore on Friday, Rs 6 crore on Saturday, and peaking at Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday. But Monday’s sharp fall signals a struggle to maintain momentum during weekdays.

According to Sacnilk, Metro In Dino has earned a total of Rs 19.25 crore in India so far. This means it has already beaten the lifetime collection of Sonu Sood’s Fateh, which earned Rs 18.87 crore. It is also getting closer to Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which made Rs 20.48 crore in India earlier this year.

However, the film is facing strong competition from Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which continues its theatrical run. On Monday, Sitaare Zameen Par collected Rs 1.35 crore on its 18th day. While Metro In Dino performed better over the weekend, its weekday slowdown could affect its overall box office journey.

At the same time, Hollywood films are leading the charts. Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth earned Rs 4.25 crore on its fourth day. Brad Pitt’s F1 also made Rs 2.5 crore on its 11th day, matching Metro In Dino’s Monday earnings.

Despite catchy songs and a popular cast, Metro In Dino is struggling to pull in weekday audiences. It remains to be seen if positive word-of-mouth can help improve its numbers in the coming days.

About Sitaare Zameen Par and Metro In Dino

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. It is also a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions. In this film, Aamir Khan plays an angry basketball coach who punches the head coach and lands in legal trouble. Instead of jail time, he is given one last chance through community service.

That’s when his life changes. He is asked to coach a team of neurodivergent athletes. What begins as a punishment turns into a heartwarming journey of learning, friendship and teamwork. Slowly, his tough exterior softens as he bonds with his team.

Metro In Dino, on the other hand, is a musical romantic drama that explores modern-day relationships. It features four couples played by Aditya Roy Kapur-Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma, and Anupam Kher-Neena Gupta.

The film is directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.
