Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is on a winning streak at the box office. Despite fresh competition from Kajol’s Maa and Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa, the film saw a huge jump on Day 9. As per Sacnilk, it collected Rs 12.75 cr on its second Saturday, a big leap from its Friday collection of Rs 6.65 cr. With this, its India total has reached Rs 108 cr.

What’s more, Aamir’s emotional sports drama outperformed both Maa and Kannappa, which earned Rs 6.2 cr and Rs 7 cr respectively on their second day. Meanwhile, Hollywood release F1 earned Rs 8.50 cr on the same day, showing good growth. The numbers prove audiences are still deeply connected to Aamir’s emotional storytelling.

About The Film

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. Aamir plays a disgraced basketball coach ordered to train a team of specially-abled children after a drink-and-drive case. Genelia D’Souza plays his wife, with ten debutants, all specially-abled, playing the children.

Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film promotes themes of teamwork, empathy, and redemption. While the first half has been criticised for its slow pace, reviews say it turns around strongly post-intermission.

With positive word-of-mouth and minimal competition, Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to maintain its box office momentum. If it continues at this pace, it could soon rank among the year’s top three Bollywood blockbusters.
