Former television actress and Union minister Smriti Irani recently revealed her emotional response to the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In an interview with Neelesh Misra on The Slow Interview, she shared how deeply affected she was by the incident and had immediately called actor Amit Sadh, who she feared might also take a drastic step.

Smriti Irani remembered Sushant Singh Rajput

Smriti, who had worked on the same sets as Sushant, shared that she was on a video call when she heard about his passing and felt like he should have called her before taking such a drastic step. She said, “The day Sushant died, I was on a VC. There were many people. But I just couldn’t… I said stop it. I felt like, why did he not call me? He should have called once. I had told that boy, ‘Tum yaar maarna mat apne aap ko.” She had also invited him for a masterclass on the IFFI stage when she was the I&B minister. After his death, she had mourned his loss on Twitter, acknowledging that he had so much potential and was gone too soon.

As soon as she heard about the news of Sushant’s death, Smriti called Amit Sadh, who had worked with Sushant in the film Kai Po Che, out of concern for his well-being. She knew that Amit was close to Sushant and could also be affected by his death. In the interview, Smriti revealed Instantly, I was scared for Amit Sadh. I called him and asked him what he is up to. I knew, kuch gadbad karega bachcha. Usne mujhe kaha, mujhe nahi rehna, kya kiya iss idiot ne. I got the sense that something is wrong. Publicist Rohini Iyer told me, ‘I am very scared, somebody just find him’.” She revealed that she talked to Amit Sadh for six hours to make him calm down.

Amit Sadh shared Smriti helped him

Amit Sadh had earlier shared how deeply disturbed he was by Sushant’s death and how Smriti Irani had helped him during that time. He had received a random call from her, and they ended up talking for six hours. Smriti often calls him to check on him and see how he’s doing. Smriti’s emotional response to Sushant’s death highlights the impact it had not just on his family and friends but also on those who knew him from the industry.
