Son Of Sardaar 2 Vs Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 7: Ajay Devgn And Karan Johar’s Film Conclude First Week As Failed Sequels, Earn Rs…

Son of Sardaar 2 earned around Rs 32 crore net in its first week, while Dhadak 2 collected Rs 16.44 crore. Both films are failed sequels with disastrous response at the box office.

The first week has ended for Son of Sardaar 2 and Dhadak 2, and neither has managed to live up to expectations. While Ajay Devgn’s Punjabi-flavoured comedy-drama has pulled in higher numbers than its romantic drama rival, both films have struggled to attract strong audiences.

Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Day 7

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Son of Sardaar 2 earned Rs 1.40 crore on Thursday, taking its seven-day total to Rs 32.89 crore. The film started steadily but has seen a gradual dip in collections, with Day 7 recording noticeably lower footfalls, especially in evening and night shows.

Its overall Hindi occupancy stood at 8.64%, with morning shows at 5.48% and night shows peaking at 11.60%. Jaipur emerged as the strongest performing city with 14% occupancy, followed by Lucknow at 10.50%. Delhi NCR posted 8.50%, while Mumbai and other metros hovered around the 7% mark. Smaller centres such as Surat, Kolkata, and Bhopal saw much weaker interest at around 3–3.5%.

When compared to the original Son of Sardaar, the difference is huge. The 2012 hit collected Rs 82.90 crore in its first week – more than double what the sequel has managed. The drop raises questions about the film’s staying power heading into the second weekend.

Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 7

Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, fared even worse. The film earned Rs 1.00 crore on Thursday, marking its lowest day yet and bringing the week one total to Rs 16.44 crore.

The romantic drama, a Hindi remake of Pariyerum Perumal, opened with Rs 3.50 crore last Friday and peaked at Rs 4.15 crore on Sunday. However, collections fell sharply from Monday onwards, reflecting fading audience interest.

The first Dhadak collected Rs 51.56 crore in its debut week, but its so-called sequel has not even reached the Rs 20 crore mark after seven days. Even older release, Saiyaara, is currently bringing higher single-day earnings than these two.

Critical Response Vs Box Office Reality

While Dhadak 2 has earned appreciation for its sensitive take on caste discrimination, the numbers tell a different story. Despite backing from Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures, and a delayed release due to CBFC objections, the film has not connected with a wide audience.

On the other hand, Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, continues the story of Jassi Singh Randhawa, now set against a Scotland backdrop. Despite action, humour, and wedding chaos, it has not generated the excitement of its predecessor.

With such underwhelming first-week totals, both films face an uphill task in their second weekend. Unless there is a sudden spike in footfall, they may soon be labelled as missed opportunities in the 2025 Bollywood box office race.
