Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have always kept their personal life private. But social media trolls have still found a way to intrude. The Dabangg actress recently spoke openly about the negativity she faced after her interfaith marriage with Zaheer. In a chat with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Sonakshi revealed how she stayed positive and focused on her big day.
Sonakshi Sinha On Her Inter-Religious Marriage And Online Trolls
Sonakshi said. “It’s just a noise. I ain’t the first person who did it, and I am not going to be the last. It’s a grown ass woman making a life choice in which people I don’t even know, everybody had a say in it for some reason. It felt all really stupid at that point in time. It was all just so beautiful for us; we were thrilled to spend the rest of our lives together, so we just cut out the noise.”
She also explained how she avoided negativity during the wedding. “It’s very difficult, especially at that time when you only want positivity coming your way. We live in a social media world, so I had to put off my comments. I didn’t want to read a single negative thing on my big day about me, my partner, or my family.”
About Her Relationship With Zaheer Iqbal
Sonakshi and Zaheer’s love story started years ago. They first met at a Salman Khan party in 2013, but didn’t click immediately. It was in 2017, during the after-party of Tubelight, that they really connected, talking for hours and getting to know each other. Over the next seven years, their relationship grew steadily, despite public scrutiny and the pressures of fame.
The couple married in 2024 under the Special Marriage Act at Sonakshi’s Mumbai home. The wedding was private, attended by family and close friends, followed by a fun reception for industry colleagues. Since then, they have been travelling often and sharing glimpses of their trips on social media, from quiet beach escapes to lively city adventures.
Despite online trolling, Sonakshi says she and Zaheer remain focused on their happiness and life together. The couple continues to enjoy their private world while letting social media chatter fade into the background.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi is mostly focused on her married life. She was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi and her Telugu debut Jatadhara.
