His post came just hours after reports claimed that NTR had walked out of Rajamouli’s new project on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.

On Instagram, Jr NTR shared a candid photo with Rajamouli. The two were seen chatting and laughing together, and fans loved seeing their warm bond. He wrote, “Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Jakkana @ssrajamouli!! Loads of love.” The post quickly went viral, with fans calling it proof that everything is good between them.
The timing of the post surprised many because it came right after Bollywood Hungama reported that NTR had decided to opt out of the Phalke biopic.
Jr NTR Leaves Dadasaheb Biopic To Be Directed By Rajamouli’s Son
The film was supposed to be directed by Rajamouli’s son, Karthik. A source told the outlet that there were three main reasons behind the actor’s decision.
A source revealed that Jr NTR does not want to play a real-life character right now, especially a historical legend. The film was also going to be directed by Rajamouli’s son, Karthik, and not Rajamouli himself. The insider added that since Aamir Khan is already doing a Dadasaheb Phalke biopic with Rajkumar Hirani, making another one would not make much sense.
This sparked rumours of tension between NTR and Rajamouli. But with his warm birthday post, the actor seems to have ended all speculation. Fans now believe that their friendship and mutual respect remain strong.
Reports also suggest that after NTR’s exit, Rajamouli’s team reached out to Prabhas for the same project. The two share a successful history together, having worked on the Baahubali films. However, Prabhas seems just as busy.
According to Mid-Day, the actor will be “completely occupied” through 2025 and most of 2026 with major films like Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 and Spirit by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Because of this, the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic may face delays in casting and production.
Meanwhile, Jr NTR is shooting for Dragon, his next big action film with KGF director Prashanth Neel. The movie reportedly features Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas in important roles. With Devara also lined up, the actor has a busy couple of years ahead.
Despite the recent chatter, Jr NTR’s gesture towards Rajamouli shows there’s no bad blood between the two. It’s all love, respect, and laughter – just like in that viral picture.
