SS Rajamouli receives top honour at New York Film Critics Circle, his moving speech goes viral

SS Rajamouli receives top award: For his film RRR, SS Rajamouli recently won the top prize - Best Director - at the New York Film Critics Circle. RRR's official Twitter handle shared photos and videos from the award ceremony. The filmmaker thanked his family, the film's cast and crew, and the jury for the awards in his acceptance speech.

"Receiving this award from you is a great honour," he said. It means a lot to me. You have honoured my entire cast and crew and brought a lot of attention to a small film from the south of India. Many people are unaware that such a field exists, but as a result of this, I am confident that many more will look into it." He went on to say,"With RRR, I saw the same kind of reception in the West. They were reacting the same way that Indians did." Speaking about the epic pre-interval sequence of RRR, the director said, "The look on the audience's faces... It was pure joy, awe. We could look at their faces and know what they were thinking. Like 'what in the hell did we just witness!' This is exactly what I want from my audience... pure joy of watching the film in the theatre."

RRR in Golden Globes

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli and RRR stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR will attend the Golden Globe Awards on January 11 in Los Angeles. RRR has been nominated in two categories: Best Foreign Film and Best Original Song for the film's track Naatu Naatu.

Nattu Nattu from SS Rajamouli's RRR has also made the Oscars' Best Original Song shortlist. On January 24, the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be announced. RRR, which was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam around the world, has been nominated for several Oscars.
