Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Actor Varun Dhawan Defends Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions In Nepotism Debate, Says THIS

Varun Dhawan defends Dharma Productions amid nepotism debates, saying talent matters more than family ties. He cites Karan Johar launching Lakshya in Kill as an example of the studio supporting outsiders.

Varun Dhawan is busy promoting his latest release Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. He stars opposite Janhvi Kapoor, and the film also features Sanya Malhotra in an important role. Since both Varun and Janhvi come from film families, questions about nepotism naturally came up during the press meet.

Here’s What Varun Dhawan Said

Varun shared his honest thoughts on the topic. He said that once the cameras start rolling, an actor’s family background does not matter. While talking to Filmfare reporter, he explained, “Director ke action aur cut ke beech sab kuch khatam ho jata hai.”

He added that real talent always stands out, irrespective of family connections. Varun also praised the newcomers in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. He appreciated their hard work and dedication to proving themselves purely through skill.

Varun Defends Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions In Nepotism Debate

Talking about changes in Bollywood, Varun said the debate around nepotism is loud, but opportunities for new talent are increasing. He said, “Jo log shor machana chahte hain, wo machate rehte hain, lekin sach yeh hai ki naye talent ko kaam milta hai.” He recalled his experience in October (2018) with newcomer Banita Sandhu and shared that he continues to work with fresh faces in upcoming projects.

Varun also highlighted the role of big production houses. He praised Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions (which produced Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari) for giving new actors a chance. He mentioned Lakshya (a recent debutant launched by Dharma) as an example of how outsiders are being supported in the industry.

Well, Karan Johar has backed star kids with family connections a lot of times. He is known for hard-promoting Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday and more. Kangana Ranaut once called him ‘flagbearer of nepotism’.

Coming back to the conversation, Varun said, “While family connections may open doors, surviving and thriving in this industry ultimately depends on merit.”
