Suraj Barjatya Uunchai: Assembling a star studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, Danny Denzongpa, Nafisha Alia and Parineeti Chopra among others, Uunchai was hailed for its spirit. However, in a reddit rant, a netizen has claimed Suraj Barjatya, who helmed the movie, was selling stupidity in the name of bravery. And he has a valid point.
Uunchai was all about taking up challenges and making the most out of life. However, a redditor has brought out to notice that disguised as bravery, there was some stupid acts in the film. For one, he recalls an act whee an Alzheimer patient insists on still going up to the base camp.
"We learned that Amit Shrivastav was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and was taking medicines. He was also advised by his doctor to not go on the trek. Not only did he still go, but he also took a lot fewer medicines. The result was his medicines ran out and the disease kicked in," the redditor wrote.
He then went on to explain how the patient insisted on carrying on to trek, putting everyone else at risk because of his goal.
"So, yes while this movie shows the extreme bravery of those senior citizens, at the same time it also showed the extreme selfishness of Amit who was willing to sacrifice the safety of other members in a high altitude region," he further added.
Sharing his personal experience, the redditor further explained for someone living in mountain region, this is problematic. "Barjatya was trying to sell stupidity under the guise of bravery in Uunchai," he concluded.
Uunchai was theatrical released on 11 November 2022. The film can be considered a sleeper hit as the word of mouth helped the film pick pace at box office. The film earned ₹48.16 crore worldwide and was considered a box office success.
